The art of sequels is no stranger to the box office. It can be hit or miss, with some grandly continuing on a story and others simply standing in the shadow of the original. Now there is “22 Jump Street,” which has decided to take the idea of the sequel and make a movie about it.

White House Down

In March audiences were treated to the destruction of the Capitol in “Olympus Has Fallen,” a “Die Hard” knock-off featuring Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman. Three months later, we have another, this time starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx as the agent and the president, respectively.

WHD follows John Cale, a Capitol security officer who is trying to get a job on the President’s Secret Service. After his interview, he takes his daughter, a political aficionado  on a tour of the White House, when terrorists strike. After blowing the Rotunda of the Capitol and successfully diverting attention from the White House, a team of men made up of a hacker(who will remind audiences a great deal of arms dealer Justin Hammer from “Iron Man 2” in his behavior), a group of white supremacists, a disavowed wet-works expert and a father seeking vengeance for his sons lost life in the Middle East conflicts.1183878 - WHITE HOUSE DOWN

21 Jump Street

Perhaps you have heard of a little known actor named Johnny Depp. The TV show that started his blockbuster career has now been adapted into a movie. “21 Jump Street,” based on the TV show of the same name, follows police officers as they conduct stings within the public school system.

Jenko and Schmidt find themselves right back where it all began: high school.

The 2012 movie follows Jenko and Schmidt, two officers who just can’t seem to get it together. After an arrest gone wrong, they are sent to Jump Street to take part in a resurrected program that busts drug rings in high schools. Continue reading “21 Jump Street”

The Vow

Paige and Leo must find their way back to each other in “The Vow.”

Put simply, “ The Vow” is a film about love enduring in spite of impossible obstacles. Starring Rachael McAdams (The Notebook) and Channing Tatum (Dear John) as a couple who must overcome the difficulties of amnesia and reclaim what they had.

A car accident, which was depicted quite artfully without the violence the moment could have had, leaves up-and-coming artist Paige (McAdams) in a drug induced coma. Continue reading “The Vow”
